If you are thinking about planning a Disney vacation, but the idea of taking your loved one with food allergies into somewhere so crowded causes a bit of anxiety, you should really look into Disney and how food allergy friendly they are. Dining at Disney with food allergies has been the most pleasant experience we have had dining out with food allergies.
We ate at 3 table service restaurants during our most recent trip and each one went above and beyond in regards to our family’s food allergy needs. At the time we made the reservations through My Disney Experience, there was a place to note both D and B’s food allergies, which we did. When we arrived at the restaurants and checked in, they mentioned that they were aware of our food allergies. Our wait staff also mentioned the food allergies almost immediately upon greeting our table. We were given meet and greets with a special allergy chef and given allergy friendly menus.
During our Princess dinner at 1900 Park Fare, which is a buffet (I know, food allergy nightmare), the chef walked me through the entire buffet. He went over all of the ingredients, taking special care to point out specifics and answer all of my questions. He offered to make D anything her heart desired and even offered to make her a special dessert. The chef at 1900 Park Fare was top-notch, in my opinion.
The quick service restaurants also had food allergy options for meals and desserts. Even in the crowds that are Disney quick service restaurants at lunch time, they didn’t bat an eye. They gave us the allergy friendly options, retrieved an allergy friendly brownie and we were eating in no time. Our wait was a little longer than others without food allergies, but it was not a huge difference and definitely worth the peace of mind.
If you are a food allergy parent, you know how anxious you can feel dining anywhere. It was such a sigh of relief to see how Disney handles food allergies. I loved Disney before, but I really love Disney now. Thank you, Disney, for taking us seriously and putting my worried momma mind at ease.
